Simplifying The OSIS Interface
It is always a challenge to deploy OSIS the way users hope. In many instances, users buy based on a long list of system capabilities but as system use expands in their organization, they want to make things as simple as possible for their new users.
While these concepts seem contrary to one another, the reality sometimes is that a software’s “power” can sometimes be measured in its flexibility to meet each users needs.
With OSIS we seek to provide a platform that system managers can use to deploy information to any user based on their need and skill level. Last spring, OSIS 2.4 introduced the ability to control each user’s interface and system use. This control allows system managers to simplify OSIS for each user to minimize training time and adoption cost.
For example, a full access OSIS user’s interface might look like this:
This user has access to all menu items and application tabs.
Alternatively, system managers can restrict access to each menu item and/or tab for each user. The result of this type of restriction might look like:
Users can then access only the items pertinent to their role. For more information about configuring OSIS in this way, please see our wiki (http://www.idisis.com/owiki/doku.php?id=osis:osis_help:versioning:ver_2400:cha_9003).
